Main attributed tasks: The University of Twente focus their activities on modelling of the laser-induced structure occurrence as well as characterizing the metallic dies and replicated plastic parts, with respect to the structuring and replication quality. The University of Twente investigate laser-induced surface structures and find possible new machining regimes.

-      Definition and extension of the structuring Portfolio.

-      Simulation and modelling of the laser machining process.

-      Analysis of potential laser machining error scenarios.

-      Up-scaling of the laser structuring process.

-      Analysis of the laser surface structuring results and feedback to the laser process development.

Main attributed tasks: BASF´s role in the project is to develop a specialty styrenic plasticcompounds (ASA based) for injection moulding with the mechanical properties required by theautomotive industry, while being able to display an enhancedhydrophobic behaviour. For thisBASF will be involved in the synthesis & modification of the new styrenic material followed bythe testing of the mechanical and analyzing the surface properties. Therefore BASF will worktogether with MAIER and Gaiker closely to obtain the best material properties. Due to the carve-out of the Styrenic business into Styrolution, the 50:50 Joint Venture between BASF and INEOS, all research results and IP gained within this project by BASF are transferred to Styrolution (http://www.styrolution.com).
